Can the soul be broken apart and become nothing. I was worried about that or does it stay forever?

I think it can wear down into nothingness, or rather the energy is simply energy, not part of a collective "soul" anymore. Not 100% sure though. I know a soul can be drained and weakened significantly but I have also heard the term "elasticity" used, to say how strongly connected it is.
