Religious aspects aside anyone have any info on doing the Maha-Mantra?

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare.

I know that Hare = energy
Krishna = god
Energy of god.

It's singing praises to a Hindu god yes but a chap told me without focusing on the religious aspects one can chant this and it elevates ones consciousness. He said he gets grounded from doing it. The vibration is supposed to energise you and stimulates on every level, spiritual/ physical/ mental. He uses it as a daily meditation and he's feeling and thinking better. Anybody know about this, in addition to a meditation program of course?

There are alot of mantra's out there that has the same effect. If you chant om or "Ram" (Rah-om). You'll get the same effect. Back in the old days a yogi would give his student his own personal mantra to chant.
Thank you. I will be sure to use "Ra-Om". I've been using one; "Mung", for calming. I think it occupies your mind so you focus less on what's stressing you.

It's obviously to do with the hum as they all hum and the earth makes a humming sound so I assume by replicating it you tune in.

Thanks again, Regards.
