HELLo to everyone; I wanted to share what is to me one of the more important and useful forms of meditation in regards to the practice of magick, and also see if any of the rest of you have experience with this.
Before I launch all the way into this, I want to qualify that my formal training in magick was different than many styles I have encountered. See, the guy who taught me is a Chaos Mage (and a Luciferian Priest), and so his style dealt with magick as the manipulation of subtle energy. It started with learning to see my own aura, then those of other people, which lead to my being able to see spirits and other entities, as well as the lines and areas of high energy. Once I could readily see the energies, which took very little time at all, the next phase was teaching me to manipulate those energies, by creating wards/shields, by blasting enemies with raw energy, by opening portals, and by confining certain entities between shields, for added protection, etc.
So, one of the main things he focused on with me was battle magick, and this is where the moving meditation comes in. Because enemies will rarely attack when it is convenient to you, you might be in a meeting, or walking around, or at work, and suddenly you are being attacked. So the idea of moving meditation is that, in an instance where perhaps I am attacked at work, I can continue doing my job adequately on one level, while on another, I perhaps catch the energy of the enemy who is attacking me, and send it, say, to another enemy, so that I in effect start a little war between my enemies, and I can sit back and laugh while they fight. So the point of that is being able to slip into a deep meditative state, while functionally going about my everyday waking routines.
I do not have a lot of enemies out there; that was just a "for instance," scenario, but I do agree with my teacher that the moving meditation is an important skill to develop. And I have had much success with it. I learned to perform rituals of High magick that way, and found that such rituals can be even better than those performed in a physical temple. For instance, I did an entire astral ritual as I walked across town. I was present enough to avoid being struck by a car or what have you; I was attentive and aware of my surroundings, and yet I really can hardly remember the walk, because really I was in an astral Satanic Temple, completely decked out as I would have it if I were rich enough to afford a castle with a nice, dank dungeon. And there I called upon the Dark Ones, and worked my magick. And when I arrived at my destination, my spell had already culminated successfully. That was powerful.
Although a long time has passed since my teacher told me that I was no longer his student, but was instead his equal, and knew all that he knew, we still maintain a close rapport, and I still learn things from him (and he sometimes learns things from me, or so he tells me). Whenever I am going through a difficult or stressful time in my life (and being a college student, I have a LOT of those; I call them midterm exams), he always tells me, "Remember your moving meditations! Do your moving meditations, bonehead!" And he's right; whenever I apply that practice to ANY aspect of my life, it gets better. Plus, if any others of you practice T'ai Chi, or other martial arts, and link these practices with your Satanic practice; well, I have found that the moving meditation fits in nicely here.
Anywayz, I just wanted to share that, and see if anybody else has had much experience with moving meditations, or maybe has a technique to share. Although I've been practicing for YEARS, and consider myself to be quite adept at it, I am not fool enough to believe that I have nothing more to learn. I would love to hear what others have to say about the applications of moving meditation. Until then, I remain as always,
