Rachel Riley has warned it is a “dangerous and terrifying time” for Jewish people after witnessing people flying Palestinian flags in west London in the wake of Hamas’s attacks against Israel.

The Countdown presenter said she had seen people dancing and “seemingly celebrating like they were having a party”.

Writing on social media, she said: “I just passed two cars in west London driving with Palestinian flags flying from each window, bouncing up and down in their cars, seemingly celebrating like they were having a party.

“Make no mistake, this is a dangerous and terrifying time for all Jews around the world.”

She added: “People have been brutally murdered, kidnapped and there are people in London dancing.

“Most people understand this is an abomination. No one should cheer war and death.”

Late on Saturday night, a 50-strong group of people waving Palestinian flags could be seen cheering and sending fireworks into the sky on Edgware Road in London.

It comes after the Liberal Democrats’ spokesman on foreign affairs was criticised on Saturday morning for her response to the Hamas attacks.

Posting on Twitter on Saturday morning, Layla Moran said:

Lord Wolfson, a Conservative peer and former minister, tweeted in response: “The Government condemns. Labour condemns. The Liberal Democrats are ‘concerned.’ Shameful. ‘Concerned’ is when the council hasn’t emptied the bins for a week. Not when civilians are being executed at bus stops, in their cars, and their homes.”

Jeremy Brier, a KC, said: “Thousands of rockets fired by Hamas – many murders of Jews – and abductions. And this is your response? No condemnation of the perpetrators. Without morality or shame.”

Delivering an apparent slapdown to Ms Moran, Sir Ed Davey, the Lib Dem leader, posted his own tweet two hours later.

He said: “Horrifying scenes in Israel and Palestine this morning. Liberal Democrats fully condemn Hamas. This terrorism must cease. Israel has a right to defend itself.”

Rowing back from her earlier comment, Ms Moran issued a new statement which said: “I am horrified to wake up to such dreadful scenes of violence in Israel and Palestine this morning.

“Last year, I met with Israelis living in villages on the Gaza border. I am mortified to learn that these places are facing terrorist attacks as we speak. My thoughts are with those I met, and their safety, and all those others impacted by this awful violence.

“Liberal Democrats fully condemn the terrorism of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. This violence must cease. I am profoundly worried about the prospect for broader escalation.”

James Cleverly, the Foreign Secretary, said he “unequivocally” condemned the attack and that the UK would “always support Israel’s right to defend itself”.

Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, also condemned the attack for which he said there was “no justification”. “Israel has a right to defend herself,” he added.

Jeremy Corbyn, the former Labour leader who now sits as an independent MP, declined to condemn the terror acts carried out by Hamas militants.

He tweeted:

Humza Yousaf, the SNP First Minister, said on Twitter: “My wife Nadia and I spent this morning on the phone to her family in Gaza. Many others in Scotland will be deeply worried about their families in Israel and Palestine.

“My thoughts and prayers are very much with those worried about loved ones caught up in this awful situation.”

In response, a number of social media users called upon the Scottish leader to condemn the attacks.

London police patrols increase as people accused of celebrating Israel attacks

Police patrols have been increased in London after videos emerged of people appearing to celebrate the attack on Israel, which a Government minister said was “glorifying the terrorist activities of Hamas”.

The Metropolitan Police was urged to intervene by immigration minister Robert Jenrick as he shared a video posted on social media by Countdown presenter Rachel Riley after Hamas launched its biggest attack in years on Israel.

On Saturday evening, Riley posted on social media: “I just passed two cars in West London driving with Palestinian flags flying from each window, bouncing up and down in their cars, seemingly celebrating like they were having a party.

“Make no mistake, this is a dangerous and terrifying time for all Jews around the world.”

She later posted a video which showed people waving Palestinian flags, beeping car horns and clapping and said: “Acton, half an hour ago. Popped into a cafe for some baklava with the kids and our Ukrainian friends.

“People have been brutally murdered, kidnapped and there are people in London dancing.

“Just had a reassuring call with the police, if anyone is scared, please call them.”

She added on the social media site: “Most people understand this is an abomination. No-one should cheer war and death.”

Prominent barrister Charlotte Proudman also posted a video of a car with Palestinian flags sounding its horn.

She wrote: “Celebrating the murders and kidnapping of Israelis is quite possibly the most heinous act of public hate I have seen on the streets of London.”

Mr Jenrick shared Riley’s post on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, and said: “These disgusting people are glorifying the terrorist activities of Hamas, a proscribed organisation.

“There is no place for this in the UK.

“I trust @metpoliceuk will be taking this seriously.”

In a statement, Scotland Yard said: “We are aware of a number of incidents, including those that have been shared on social media, in relation to the ongoing conflict in Israel and the border with Gaza.

“The Met has increased policing patrols across parts of London in order to provide a visible presence and reassurance to our communities.

“We remain in contact with partners and community leaders to listen to any concerns.

“Anyone who experiences threatening behaviour or is worried about their safety is urged to contact police.

“We are aware that the ongoing conflict may lead to protests over the coming days. We will ensure that an appropriate policing plan is in place in order to balance the right to protest against any disruption to Londoners.”

A group called the Palestine Solidarity Campaign has called for people to attend an “emergency” demonstration on Monday outside the Israeli Embassy.

Hamas says it has seized ‘dozens’ of hostages from Israel as video appears to show civilians taken to Gaza
Hostages appear to include military personnel and civilians

Hamas fighters appear to paraglide across border in released footage

Hamas says it has captured “dozens” of hostages as part of the Palestinian militant organisation’s suprise[sic] attack on Israel on Saturday.

"We bring good news to our (Palestinian) prisoners and our people that the al Qassam Brigades have dozens of captured (Israeli) officers and soldiers in their hands," Abu Obaida, a spokesperson for Hamas’s armed wing, said in a post on Telegram, CNN reports.

"They have been secured in safe places and resistance tunnels," the spokesperson added.

Militant groups claimed on social media fighters in Israeli were holding some hostages and other captives were being driven into Gaza, Reuters reports.

The Israeli military, meanwhile, has said “hostages and prisoners of war,” including both soldiers and civilians, have been taken captive.

Videos verified by The New York Times appear to show five Israelis with their hands behind their backs being led by armed men on a road in Be’eri kibbutz, near the southeastern border with Gaza.

A “substantial” number of Israeli citizens and soldiers are being held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli military, Haaretz reports.

Israeli broadcaster N12 News reported that up to 50 hostages were being held in a dining hall in Be’eri.

The reports of hostages underscore the already devastating civilian toll of the one-day conflict.

At least 150 Israelis and 230 Palestinians have been killed in the fighting, Haaretz reports.

The assault began early on Saturday, when Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip stormed into southern Israel by land, air, and sea, appearing to catch the famed Israeli security apparatus by suprise[sic].

Thousands of rockets from Gaza have been fired into civilian areas in Israel.

In response, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is “at war.”

“Our enemy will pay a price the type of which it has never known,” he said. “We are in a war and we will win it.”

Joe Biden spoke with Mr Netanyahu on Saturday and condemned the “appalling Hamas terrorist attacks” against the US ally.

“The United States unequivocally condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, and I made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel,” President Biden said in a White House statement on Saturday morning. “Terrorism is never justified. Israel has a right to defend itself and its people.”

No problem. :) It's important, so I felt I should share these things I found.

Very nice thanks. What would be nice to think about is that both side is basically Jewish. Islam is a Jewish religion and it's followers are influenced by Jews. Maybe it is another attempt to "oh goyim look how poor and hated we are. LOVE US"

I think this is also a good way to manifest the curses against them. Meaning that they manifest the power of our RTRs in the most controllable way, before it gets out of their hand.
