How whole are you?

In our natural state as human beings we are dual. All our sensations, impressions, feelings and thoughts are divided into good and bad, positive and negative, beneficial and harmful, useful and useless, pleasant and unpleasant and so on. We perceive and experience our lives through this process of duality and opposites.

In the Inca tradition the world is perceived as alive and responsive and composed of vibrant fields of pure energy. This energy is divided into two parts of the same spectrum-Sami and Hucha. Sami is known as the purer energy that has been refined through dedicated spiritual work and cultivation of awareness. Hucha, on the other hand, is not a ''negative'', ''bad'' or ''dark'' energy, it is simply a heavier or slowed down energy that can be compared to pain that brings us tremendous benefits. You don't win without pain...

According to science all that exists is energy condensed into different vibrational frequencies. My point is that once we realize that we don't have to see the world in black and white, we realize that there is instead a variety of colors.

The Easterners have a beautiful way of explaining Yin and Yang-they describe them as "arising mutually". A great way to illustrate this is to study bees and flowers. In our perception, they are completely different beings; the bee flies and buzzes, the flower is rooted in the ground and perfumes the environment, so the bees are attracted to the flower.

But have you ever considered that they are one organism, in a way? Bees can be thought of as the reproductive organs of the flower, and the flower as food for the bees. They are complete opposites of each other, but are interdependent to survive.

Opposing natural forces that enhance each other are seen all over the Universe. What we call the 'Full Moon', for example, is defined by the Earth's relative position to the Sun. The Moon is always full, but to us it only appears to be full when its entire visible face reflects the Sun's light. The Moon's ''glow'' is brightest when it faces its opposition. To "shine your brightness" does not necessarily mean to show your best and most noble qualities, instead, it means to seek the opposing forces within you, shining your brightest, experiencing your full moon.
''My brothers in war! I love you from the very heart, I am and have always been of your kind. And I am also your best enemy.''
-Nietzsche-Thus Spoke Zarathustra

He felt that we should'nt care about picking our friends as we will naturally be attracted to those who are like us. Instead, pick your enemies wisely, for they will be the ones to challenge you, the ones who force you to be more aware, awake and sharp.

Opposing forces bring clarity to our wholeness, they shed light on the dark side of the moon. By this, I mean that you will learn about your attractive and noble traits as well as your hideous and darker ones. Opposition helps to reveal the hidden things in us. We can't see these hidden things until we are confronted with something that seems very different, or even opposed to us.

There is no personal growth, no awakening in the spiritual life, and no awakening to truth, without first seeing and acknowledging our existing discontent. This dissatisfaction is not the everyday, ordinary dissatisfaction, but is rather a deep, inner disappointment, that is, it is that inner emptiness that constantly reminds us that something is missing, something at a basic level is missing.

To live in mediocrity is to never encounter this essential dissatisfaction. To be absorbed in routines, to avoid any truth and depth and to accept your limited life, and all is to ignore the fact that something substantial deep and vital is missing.

The word alone is a wonderful word that, unlike lonely, reflects the fullness and completeness you enjoy in your own solitary presence. The word "alone" literally means wholly oneness or all-in-one.

At the root of your spiritual journey, you are alone. Nobody but you can penetrate the depths of your being. Some people will meet you along your path; some guides, some friends and enemies, but always be aware that these people are just visitors, with lessons and challenges for you to grapple.

Hail Satan!
