Im new to yoga and know hardly anything about it. Are there any good books or videos to download that you guys would recommend? I heard aleister crowleys 8 lectures on yoga are good, read the first two, interesting, but hasn't really given me the gist of it yet. There lots of different types of yoga, and from the sounds of what ive read, the j.o.s. warns about a lot of bullshit in this field but recommends kundalini.

Should i just look at and practice poses that are being done in a kundalini book, while being aware of my breath? Is it that simple? Just wondering how to start up and go about it.

thanks

It IS that simple, Steve. There's the usual BS that they say that you have to find a "guru" or join a class, just ignore it. It's best learned alone.

And what you're saying about yoga being poses and aware of your breath, you're talking about HATHA yoga. Kundalini yoga is different, it has sequences/sets of dynamic exercises focused on a single theme combining many different things like breathing, mantras e.t.c. It's very dynamic and flowing, you'll rarely stay in the same pose for over 30 seconds.

Most of the recommended resources are in the JoS site and in this group:

And look for the 5 tibetans and 10 tibetan breaths in the files here:

They are pretty advanced and powerful though.
