It sounds to me like you were in a space between wakefulness and sleep and that could contribute to what you saw. It could have simply been a hypnagogic hallucination which are experienced by 70% of the human population as we fall asleep. Please do read about those for more clarity.
I am not trying to downplay your experience and make it seem smaller than it is to you, I do however feel it is important to question all our experiences, whether positive or negative instead of simply jumping to the conclusion of being attacked by entities. Not every experience we have needs to be “the enemy” or even The Gods themselves.
Training our ability to discern is as big a part to our spiritual growth as the experiences we have. Let’s not blow things out of proportion where we don’t need to.
