Germany is in a very sad state right now.

Very different country then it’s former prior to the Cold War era.
This move is done out of need and at last minute as the SPD (Party in power with coalition) has been wary of making such a move. Also the SDP has been very friendly toward Russia/USSR throughout their history. I take the move as mostly talk.
