I think it also depends what problems you're dealing with, mine are mainly psychological so in some ways are "easier" to deal with than physical issues, but the way I see it was applying what I believe is a neoplatonic way of solving your problems. I still think this would work with those who are mainly dealing with physical problems, but it might just take longer.
What I first did was analyse which planet or planets are main ones through which Saturn, the "obstacles" planet among other things, manifests through. You do this by looking at what sign Saturn is in on your natal chart. Now for me Saturn was mainly manifesting its influence through one planet, by being trine with this planet and under a sign this planet is associated with as well, so the influence is particularly strong.
What I then did was develop a stronger connection to the God whose mainly associated with that planet, and also am doing a munka working on these influences as well. This all still in its early days but the results both in my environment and inside me have been evident. By aligning with the God who is above this planet, I liberate myself from the lower power's "fate" influence over me and a calmer, benevolent energy that has drastically improved and weakness from this planet's influence has developed in me.
The moon is still waning, so you can still start a munka working yourself, for 40 days. Waning moon is good for removing negative things in your life.

Now for me I guess it was quite convenient that most of Saturn's energies were being expressed through a single planet ( there are others but this one is the main one, trine and placed in its sign), but Saturn may have strong positive associations with several planets in your chart, so it'll be different for each individual.
One of the key things I've learned from my recent occult studies is that the higher always dominates the lower, and never the other way around. Once you align yourself with the power above the astrological force that is giving you a hard time, that force becomes gradually powerless. This is mainly because "Planet A"'s energies is a lower version of "God A"'s energy which descended from the higher worlds, it's less "pure" to keep it simple and once it enters this world of generation it can manifest in ways that correspond to that, leading to problems. "Rising up" and aligning with the higher energies rather than the lower ones relating to the station of "fate" will allow you to conquer "fate".
To use an analogy, a CEO's (God) orders always overrules a manager's ("fate") orders. The manager received instructions from the CEO but twisted it in his own way, making your workplace miserable. However if you, through whatever way, establish good connections with the CEO, the CEO can overrule the manager for you and now things start getting much better. Eventually through building enough connections with the CEO, you become completely free from the manager's rule and even rise above him. It doesn't mean the manager is bad or evil, just an imperfect, inefficient executor of the CEO's ultimate design.
With the Gods it's similar, but rather than it being corruption, it's the absolute opposite of that. You're aligning with Order in its most perfect form. The planets and signs and so on aren't evil or good, they're just the lower versions of the Gods' energies descended into the world of matter. We're under their "control", but don't have to be. There's higher authorities above these forces that we can and should connect with.
This is my interpretation of all this, and I'm happy to be corrected where I've gone wrong, but so far things have been improving for me. Hopefully this can help other people as well.
