Note: the following is a bit overstepping, i am unsure about some parts, i may be wrong, i am open to correction ( really ), this feels bit beyond my scope.
I was about to ask about: Divine Gifts VS Mortals merit.
the line is blurry, when we do merit things from Gods VS when the Gods provide Gifts,
We can merit and not receive, Gods are not obliged to do things for us,
And we can get Gifts beyond Merits ( in my opinion )
So what really governs this ? Since merit is not enough.
while thinking about asking that, i felt inspired to write the following, again i can be wrong and i am ( really ) open for correction. Following is not a Sermon, it is a Question disguised as a Sermon. Displaying ideas for them to be corrected.
Greetings,
This subject I find to be very important, given the fact many attribute experiences like theophanies fully to themselves, and to their levels.
The thing is, the Gods won't correct the initiate at every mistake. The Gods won't micromanage the initiate if he is a beginner, let alone if he is advanced. [ I am not saying the Gods will never micromanage, the Gods can, and it does happen, the Gods are also playful, etc.. i am not discussing this aspect of the matter. ]
I do believe a maturity is needed when working with Gods, and one should learn to correct himself by himself without needing constant divine nudges, especially for trivial mistakes.
So no reaction from Gods does not mean no mistakes.
One can be doing mistakes and receiving theophanies in the same time while those mistakes are made.
However, this does not mean the Gods approve of those, and I do speculate the Gods do "baby" initiates that do not meet the maturity needed to be directly corrected in blunt ways.
I will give an experience, that I am not sure about it 100%, since I do not have enough experience yet and not enough validation to discern to the level needed to be able to talk confidently about experiences and approve of them:
Once I got extreme anger in relation to a person.
I sat in meditation to report them to Gods
I mentally tuned into the person, while feeling extreme anger.
In my mind's eye, I saw the person's aura, and felt it. It felt like a balloon, like if anything touched it bounces, it also was looking like a white cloud, very white and very dense, not electrical, but instead : like a white cloud.
I basically was mimicking a cursing but not realizing.
I then tuned mentally to the God I wanted to report the person to, to do a petition.
All this was just pure intuitive, I just went for it. This is not some "technique."
While I was trying to tune well to the God before report,
Good things that this person did started flashing in my mind's eye and/or thoughts.
I was like: why am I getting this? I get confused a bit, and also this made me kind of hesitant, since this was not a bad person and for that reason I did not resort to cursing or whatever.
I continued trying to tune to the God.
Then I mentally heard [in my own thoughts, this was not astral hearing, it was not subconscious and it was not clear the thoughts are not mine, it was blurry, it is not reliable, did not at all sound like I'm hearing astrally.]
I got those thoughts: "Why are you trying to curse this person and […]" here arguments on why he should not be cursed, mainly about good things he did, and times when he benefited me.
I got defensive and surprised, since I never really wanted to curse.
So I said mentally: "But I never said I wanted to curse? I am just reporting? I just wanted him to face a correction, not a cursing."
I heard something like: "Then Yes, perfect, we can do that."
I INSTANTLY stopped feeling anger, instantly. That is the first time I experience that. I stood up, walked, and was literally perceiving 0 anger inside me. I was feeling very good.
And the change was extreme fast, maybe instant. I do not recall.
That being said, first, this made me see how good deeds are important. The fact they were flashed in my mind's eye was not expected.
Second, this may be the first time I experienced Gods direct objection, if the above was legit.
Which is very very beautiful, and made me think:
How many times the Gods wanted to object and did not for a reason?
How many times the Gods let one act in a wrong way, while they are watching and having the opposite opinion, and seeing the initiate insisting on the mistake?
This made me more vigilant, it is one thing to know Gods have opinions, it is another to see that from experience, and I also pray to Gods to be blunt with me several times because of the above. The last thing I want is drifting to the wrong path while under the Gods Gaze.
That being said, I believe it is very immature to assume if one gets a Theophany or any experiences from Gods, to instantly assume their full satisfaction, and their approval of every single thing the initiate does.
Those are different matters, not to be mixed.
And I believe it is easy to drift to the wrong path if one projects assumptions on Gods.
So, experiences from Gods are gifts, not badges.
In reality, the Gods are not obliged to do whatever things they do for us, or whatever experiences they give, or whatever help too.
The path is the Godhead, which is primarily us, and I speculate to walk the path correctly without falling into delusion, It is important to avoid assuming experiences from Gods signal perfect approval.
I believe one should always have a sense of maturity, justice and wisdom, that allows him to constantly refine his own output in the universe, and not try to mask his mistakes, or elevate himself, by leaning on the Gods.
[The Gods gave me this and this experience, so I am above everyone else, and everyone is an average joe.]
Let's take an example of a person Y:
This person now did a meditation and got a theophany.
Yes, he got a holy experience.
Yes, he is advancing.
Yes, yes, yes...
But, if he stays at the same level, and gets the same theophany daily, this won't make him a better Theophoros. Getting a theophany is a thing. Being a better Theophoros is another thing. Theophanies are gifts. They do not ´necessarily’ make of one better theophoros, unless he collaborates in that.
