Yes, Venus in retrograde* would interfere somewhat. What exactly are you trying to accomplish here? If you want a romantic partner, then Venus retrograde is bad news, but if you want opportunity, friends, or wealth, then this is not as much of a problem.

I am not sure if one Sun Square alone could create this, as this can take time, plus it falls under multiple areas. The fire of the Sun or Jupiter grants wealth, but the connections of Venus or Mercury are what create relationships.

It might be better to just use the Sun Square for wealth, which will take the best route for this, rather than trying to specifically create situation where you have people simply giving you things.

However, just to educate, the affirmation would simply be what you have stated: "This energy has permanantly given me rich friends who benefit me greatly, in a positive manner for me." Then, you visualize the presence of a person or people, connected to you in a way that has advanced the position of your soul in reality.
