I was exposed to eastern philosophy (loosely) through Alan Watts. I used to listen to his seminars and read his books, mostly out of curiosity and not because I found him to be a great resource for learning. As a matter of fact, I can't name anything that I can say I learned from Alan Watts.
He is very new age and he's a druggie. At best he's an influencer with lots of sweet sounding but ultimately useless platitudes. The concepts he pushes are basically abrahamic with a buddhist window dressing. Now that you're here, you should read the website and books referenced here, because they are far more substantial and practical than anything Alan Watts or other new age figureheads can produce.
If you're wanting philosophy then I say that only ancient philosophy is truly worth your time. I've read the classic german authors like Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and Stirner and they're good to expand your perspective. But for philosophy for actually living, you should study the ancient works, like the Tao Te Ching, Bhagavad Gita and the Stoics.
