I don't know how this works in other cultures, but in Russia there are quite a few. Growing up, I heard things like, for example, you shouldn't give a birthday present in advance, you shouldn't pass things across the threshold of a house or apartment, if you've said something you hope will happen, or you're happy that a bad situation has improved, you should knock on wood. There are hundreds, thousands of such things. They seem to be passed down from generation to generation, like superstition or something like that. Do these actions have any real meaning? I don't believe in them, but I observe some – it seems like it's not that difficult to do, and maybe it actually has some mystical, magical symbolism that provides some kind of protection, etc. (After all, our ancestors believed in this for many generations, etc.)

Things like this do not really carry real value; they can be seen as traditional beliefs passed down through generations. They can also be symbolic things.

It shall only have effect if enough believe this and the energy accumulated to make it happen
Also very importantly if the individual gives alot of power to it ,it can happen even if it had no power to begin with so would cause you damnation because of believing crap
Essentially what you think about shapes your reality
Not to say that there are some things that carry weight to it but it is very rare and in between
Just your daily aura of protection and focus on yourself

superstitions work as a trigger, when a person does certain actions that provoke a trigger that charges the situation with energy and then waits for a bad omen to come true, the so-called superstitions are actually just one of the forms of magic that people use without realizing it
