Vibrate Algiz the amount you deem necessary. Then affirm and visualize the energy for protection. Basically, three steps of witchcraft apply to this as with other such methods. You can use Satanic Calendar for timing. They added dates for beginning AoP this year so you are in luck as it's made easier now.

A very easy example of using Algiz for protection is when doing your protection meditation, vibrate 15 times or multiples of 15 ( go as far as you can, don't force ). You can do an AOP, use a satanic rosary ( here it must be a favorable planetary period ). Using the calendar you can know a good day to start, the time, void moon, moon phase... etc. Study these first.

I've always just done AoP daily since I saw it was on the 40 day program without regard to the day or hour when I made it a daily thing.
Should I stop for one day and start again on a AoP day?

No, that is okay. But you can restart it on an optimal date if you want to.

You can also add other runes with Algiz so restarting it would be even more meaningful. Runes such as Sowilo and Tiwaz pair well, for example.
