A soul is not something that you have, it's who you are. You are a soul that chose to incarnate in a physical body. The real "you" comes from your soul. An empty body cannot be alive, it's dead.
You are fundamentally a soul; the body is your manifestation in the physical world. The soul can inhabit various bodies across different lifetimes, but the core identity—the soul itself—remains unchanged. To be without a soul would mean non-existence, which is clearly not the case for any living being.
