Why is she referred to as Athena the Virgin and being a symbol of purity, but the Gods are against restrictions on sexuality?
In this case is any mention of virginity/purity in general just a referrence to the cleanliness of the soul/aura/chakras or is there more to it?
Because this metaphor would be understood well by the ancient Greek people of that time.
Nobody would then go out into the Forums of Sparta and yell at women on the street that their body count is too high and men deserve virginal women like Athena.
The taboo on sexuality didn't exist like it does today at the time when this mythology was revealed and spread, so the allegory worked while not having unwanted side effects.
