I have a friend who suffers from deep depression, they were a victim of childhood sexual abuse and this has crippled them emotionally, they never told their parents about it and I am the only one who knows. They won't even talk to a therapist about it but they have sought out therapy for other issues. They take medicine for anxiety and depression, but they still go through deep depression where they internalize everything and want to give up. They blame themselves for everything bad that's ever happened to them. Also, they suffer from Catholic religious trauma. They hate xianity and the Catholic Church but still every once again wonder if the xian god is real and cursing and punishing them. They are interested in the occult but haven't ventured into Satanism yet. I'm trying to help them because they confide in me and I have been slowly helping them to regain some hope for life, but when these waves of sorrow and trauma hit them, almost nothing can break through their fears that nothing will ever get better, or their self confidence issues on hating themselves, wanting to die, and feeling useless. All I want is to help them conquer these struggles but I need some suggestions, I'm not a victim of sexual abuse and I don't know the best way to comfort someone who is. Thank you.

Try to talk to them on their good days, otherwise they are not going to listen. If the situation is really bad, you can direct Wunjo at them, however you don't necessarily want to get too involved.

Try to get them to do some basic exercises, like pranayama.

It might sound silly, but do some basic games or creativity projects with them. This is how people build up their self-esteem at the very basic levels.
For example, play a draw together app with them, or something. Successfully creating something and being rewarded for it builds up the self-esteem.
