Whenever I start a diet to lose weight or limit my eating, I get into a state of extreme stress and struggle.

I don't think about solutions, but about problems, and it's as if there is a negative karma in my soul about weight and food. Material solutions no longer help and I need a spiritual solution.

Can you recommend an effective weight loss based freeing the soul/karma-breaking work?

Yes, there could be karma here. Also understand that restriction of food does represent a form of stress, like Saturn, on the body. The eating of food stimulates many aspects of the soul, including the Sun (creation of fuel and happiness), Moon (nourishment and calming of body), and Venus (pleasure), so a harsh or sudden restriction of this can be hard to implement without trouble.

It is also important to realize, regarding weight loss, that this is not just about restriction of food intake, but about the removal of fat debris (called "phlegm" in traditional chinese medicine). This requires energy to do, as it is an accumulation of a pathogenic substance that needs processing.

People normally lose weight on diets because the lowered intake of food makes it easier for the stomach/spleen to process any phelgm, as well as avoid the generation of new phlegm from excessively heavy substances. There is also the interplay of inflammation, which aggravates any phlegm conditions and makes it harder to remove. You should talk to a TCM doctor about this.

In regards to the spiritual side of things, this is why people with more yang energy are naturally thinner and denser, as the energy of the Sun and Mars help maintain a healthy metabolism. Although discipline is also needed, you should make use of the energies of the Sun in order to boost your vitality, which will make this process way easier for you.

The Sun is in Sagittarius and can be used for a Sun Square for the purpose of increased vitality and metabolic health. The waxing moon in Aries would also be fine for this.

Additionally, make sure you are doing some form of physical exercise or yoga, and I would also recommend you consult with a TCM doctor regarding the rest of your health and other lifestyle choices, like diet.

Other than what JG Blizkreig also said, I want to add a mindset thing: it's "fat loss", not weight loss. Focusing on "weight" loss will also cause you to lose muscle mass, water mass and bone mass, none of which is convenient or healthy. The only case in which losing muscle is needed is that when you are overly bulky, which is not the case for the great majority of the population.

You've got very good advice so far from the others. I would like to add one more thing to everything that has been stated to far though.

There are some cases in which people gain weight as a trauma response, as they don't feel safe mentally, their bodies try to compensate that with a protective layer, a layer of fat. As if your body was saying "oh we are in danger, let's put on fat to protect ourselves".

This would explain why you start to get all those negative emotions once you start losing weight, because it is built by your body to protect you and without it you feel unsafe.

If you think this describes you, then your problem might be psychological. For that you can use mental healing workings such as working with the rune WUNJO.

Thank you for mentioning this.
My ancestors were quite poor and lower class so there is a mentality of never wasting anything because you never know when you'll get it again or how long you'll have it, especially with food. I myself grew up poor, in a chaotic atmosphere. These mindsets/adaptations live beyond their usefulness if you escape poverty and eventually become detrimental.

It is also an unhealthy coping mechanism. Habits of accumulation, whether overeating or hoarding or obsessive moneymaking(workaholism), can often be tied to trauma or insecurity or generally poor mental wellbeing and unmet needs. It's a search for comfort, stability and security.

You could just as easily be talking about the kapha dosha here, which is ruled by water and earth. I read a TCM page once talking about what cravings mean, and it said something about salty and sweet cravings, with salty relating to an urge for security(salt retains water which accumulates and pads the body, like you mentioned here with fat) and sweetness represents a craving for affection or something. Both tastes are said to be aggravating to kapha.

I totally understand what happend to you, because in some way, it happened to me as well, and not because my family was poor, but because they weren't there most of the time, and I always had to improvise or find food, and when they were there, they were abusive.

Good thing is, by them not being there, I had the privacy to become a satanist before being a teen, and I'm full in adulthood now. So for that I can't complain and I'm actually grateful for.

I had to fix my mentality though, the way I see food, and I healed through different workings during my teenage years. So sure thing is, after trauma, mental healing workings also help one lose weight in case of need (because there are different trauma responses, not all result in weight gain).

You gave way more detail about the situation then I did, which is extremely good, I really appreciate, as it is something that not many people talk about. The body does its best to protect itself after trauma, and that is to be noted.

There's this working I've made 5 or 6 years ago, for mental healing and strength, but after which I lost fat as well. The working goes like this:

Vibrare Ansuz x1 (while focusing on the rune's symbol)
ANSUZ.svg

Vibrate Thurisaz x1 (while focusing on the rune's symbol)
THURISAZ.svg

This above is one round, do x36 rounds in total.

Affirmation x9
"The energies of Ansuz and Thurisaz are healing me mentally, and are giving me the wisdom and strength to easily remove any obstacle which is holding me back from achieving everything I want, in the most beneficial ways for myself"

I, of course, used a lot of workings during the years to heal, and I strongly encourage everyone to try and experiment with different things, because everyone is different. I just let that working here in case anyone wants to give it a try.

Also being shamed by my family, and ridiculed to make me afraid to move my body, to not be noticed, which also resulted in weight gain. Thing which I fixed with the above working as well, and with Sowilo workings, for action, and freeing the soul with Munka.

That is why, if the weight problem in someone is mental, the source might be different and therefore healed differently. So, once again, the importance of knowing one's self, so you know how to approach the root of the problem.
