I've started to learn about chinese energetic medicine. From reading these books

I am pretty new to learning TCM.

How do people reconcile the differences between TCM and the Indian ayurveda, like the difference between the five elements? Wood, fire, earth, metal, water, vs, ….earth, water, fire, air, ether. They are quite different, but then the Ayurveda systems goes on to have 25 tatwas.

Would anyone say one system is better than the other?

Like for instance, in TCM the colour of the heart is red, where in the Indian teachings, the heart chakra is green. In TCM, The Lungs are white, Kidneys are blue, whereas the chakra system follows the rainbow spectrum.

I like the Indian system, but im finding that the yin/yang, 8 trigrams and 64 hexagrams, are really fascinating.

Hi

Im no expert at traditional chinese medecine but i did learn the basic principle with a cantonese taoist. It goes really far up to bat ji, kay moon, 6 yom etc.

To resume the westernize traduction 5 element is partly wrong. The teacher sayd to use the term flow like flow of energy. And the image of what we called elements was used as reference due to similarities. We can say as western corrupted magicdue to judaism it is an asiatic classification used for magic meditation divination chi kung astrology and timely action

In the past as paracelse and others classification were also done with 4 elements and spirit but what is left seems diluted or hidden.

It will be good to share the learnings like the meditation

I havent yet got to the meditations, im at the part learning about the 8 extra ordinary vessels - pg 270

well I am on pg 350 and still no explanation yet about the Chinese elements, metal and wood seem so strange to me, having got accustomed to the Indian 5 elements.

I did come across one passage about the fire and water dual cycle though - micro cosmic orbit, which make sense to me. This is why I think maybe some of the Indian systems, have both the sun and moon as the third eye, representing the heads of IDA and PINGALA.

So , I just been watching another source on DAOIST magic, and the five elements, are actually explained as 'states of change', rather than elements.
The sequence of the five states of changes for CREATION is a CIRCLE.
Whereas, the sequence for the five states of changes for DESTRUCTION is a PENTAGRAM.
Interesting......

In Daoism,

1=dao
2=Yin and Yang (the binary)
3= Man, earth, heaven
5= The states of changes (The circle of creation) and the (Pentagram of destruction)
8= The Tri grams which are like Vedic elements, but there is a pair for each, a yin and Yang, each element (air, water, fire, earth) I.e 4x2 - And each is made up of 3x yin and Yangs.
64= 6 x yin/yangs. Which describe everything

So, the Vedic and western systems of astrology and occult teachings, look like a step down in complexity from the Chinese system
